IT’S SO LOVELY TO HAVE YOU HERE

My name’s Liv and my husband and I recently emigrated to Australia from the UK. I’m originally from the Midlands where I grew up on a small farm, and my husband is a born and raised Londoner.

I returned to the UK after a year and didn’t think I’d be home for long before starting the second year of my Australian working holiday visa. But the pull of London was too much to resist and I ended up securing an internship and moving to Hackney. Before I knew it, four years had passed, I was working full-time in influencer marketing and had met the love of my life! Australia had totally slipped my mind.

At the beginning of 2023, my then-boyfriend (now husband!) had the opportunity to apply for a job in Perth and we decided to go for it. The recruitment process was long and tedious, and our excitement for the move definitely waxed and waned. But when we finally received our permanent residency visas over a year later, the reality sunk in that we were really doing this. Time to book our flights and say some of the hardest goodbyes of our lives.

As many people can attest to, moving to another country has its highs and lows. We have fallen in love with the weather, beaches, food and work-life balance, but of course we miss our friends and family. The purpose of this blog is to document our experiences as we explore our new home and offer some insight into the reality of emigrating.
